A rather dapper gentleman seated in a leafy summer woods with forestry implements - he looks like he ought to be famous, however we have been unable to find a reference for him. He is leaning on what looks like a half constructed wooden building. He is holding an axe in one hand and has a bow saw at his left elbow. He also has a mallet and what looks like a wood shaver. Classical architectural design with Corinthian columns and the oak carved to model stone work. The dial is silvered brass.

Probably made by the German company Winterhälder und Hoffmeir although the W&H stamp is not present. 

The movement substantial and of high quality. It is unusual in having 2 winding holes but strikes and chimes, a cam being used to move the pin barrel for striking the hour.

Sessions Faux Marble Clock

Black lacquered wooded cased clock with red faux marble adornments. This clock has Gong and Bell Strike, the Bell being used for 'Passing' half hour striking. If you have a slate mantle, then this is the clock for you. A pressed brass bezel surrounds the laminated paper dial which looks original and has the makers name printed on the bottom. 

The clock is in full working order and the case is in very good condition. The brass plaque with an inscription is screwed to the case below the dial. Height 12", circa 1900.

Fabulous French neo-Classical pillar table clock

~ Victorian ~

This is a beautiful gilt metal pillar clock in the neo-classical manner - a cherub bears the weight of the clock housed in a drum above his head - laurel wreaths and a reeded column. The capital that the cherub holds is decorated with sunflowers. The modelling of the piece is excellent. 

Condition is very good - as you would expect some wear to the gilt. The movement is an excellent French 8-day with platform escapement - probably a slightly later replacement for an inferior tic-tac or other small pendulum movement. The movement has been serviced and is clean and running. The hands are old replacements and the dial has been refinished to a high standard - this clock displays perfectly as you can see in the pictures below.

Unusual and highly decorative addition to the home of a discerning collector

Classical French Clock Set

~ Victorian circa 1850 ~

Charles IX style alabaster timepiece. Delightfully decorated with floral swags and fitted with a engraved and gilt dial - the surrounded cast with rose blooms. The urns are not original to the clock but have been matched to the clock by the last owner. They look truly lovely with the clock and are of high quality - marble and gilt metal. 

The movement is of high quality and has a silk suspension - it is in full clean and working order and is of 8-days duration.

Condition of the clock case is excellent - the rear left corner of the top of the case has a hair line crack and some of the moulding is missing from each side at the rear of the case. These faults are hardly noticeable. A hole in the top of the case has been filled. 

A delightful clock set for your classical theme!
