Antique French Gothic Clock - Japy Freres

A superb Japy Freres brass cased clock, beautifully modelled in the Gothic style, with a grotesque mask, dragons and panthers heads. The dial is cast brass with individual cartouches for each hour.

The finish of the brass is very good - bright and clean. There are some small areas of wear or discoloration. There is no damage to the dial and the blued steel hands are original, as is the pendulum. The movement has the superior rack striking mechanism and strikes half hourly on a coiled gong - which sounds great - Click here to hear the gong strike!

It runs for 8 days and is in excellent clean and running condition. The Japy Freres Trade mark is on the back plate of the movement.
