Large and Impressive Candelabra Clock Set - Jannot Freres

A superb clock set of the highest quality - this is a large, heavy and majestic clock set in the classical style. The case is finely cast in brass and is in excellent clean and bright condition. The clock is surmounted by a classical urn which has a flaming torch finial - the candelabra snuffers are matching.

The dial has been made in the style of 18th century examples, being solid and mounted with individual enamelled copper cartouches for each hour. The makers mark - pictured below - is on the back plate of the movement.

The French movement is of excellent quality and is by an unusual maker. It runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell and is in excellent, clean and running condition - it is complete with the original bell and a replacement pendulum. Click the movie below to hear the bell!

Condition of the clock and candelabra is excellent, there are no losses and the enamel cartouches of the dial have no cracks or chips. The blued steel hands are original. The candelabra arms are slightly distorted and one of the central stems is slightly distorted. The original gilt finish is still present in places and has worn to an antique patina - there are some small areas of discolouration / tarnish - however the clock set looks fantastic!
