Dial is formed as part of the front porcelain panel with gold letters applied to white reserves with turquoise 'jewel' half-hour markers. Porcelain is very delicately painted with over-glaze gilt decoration with classical scrolls, folliage and ribbons. The finely gilded bronze is in lovely original condition, crisply modelled and finely finished. To the top is a handled urn decorated with flowers. The clock is modelled in the round with a glazed rear door to allow the movement to be seen. The rear of the urns are also decorated with tranquil river scenes. The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video to hear the bell and watch the clock running.
Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright
with some slight wear to the high spots and to the rear. There is some slight
discolouration and marks. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no damage.
There is some wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration and the majority of the
applied turquoise 'jewels' are missing. Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
