The large gilt-bronze dial is mounted with twelve enamel cartouches and retains its original, finely fretted blued steel hands. The front bezel is fitted with convex glass, while the rear bezel is similarly glazed, allowing a view of the movement within. The French movement is of excellent quality and remains in clean, fine running order, having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. The pendulum is an old replacement. The clock runs for eight days and strikes the hours and half-hours on a bell. Please click the video below to hear the bell and observe the movement in operation. The case is in excellent condition, with the original gilding remaining beautifully clean and bright, with some slight wear and discolouration. The dial is likewise excellent condition with no damage. The rear glass displays only some light surface scratches. Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
