The large urn to the top is finely painted to both sides with exotic birds. The dial is complete with it's original finely cut and blued steel hands. Please note that this style of clock does not have a glass bezel or a rear door to the case. The clock is complete with its original gesso base. The French movement is by Achille Brocot and is of superb quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It is fitted with a dead-beat escapement and rack striking. Pendulum is and old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with slight wear to the high spots in places. The porcelain is also excellent with no damage and only very minor wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration. We have replaced the fabric on the gesso base with fresh. Achille Brocot was a member of the renowned Brocot clockmaking family, the eldest son of Louis Gabriel Brocot. He was treasurer to La Société des Horlogers in Paris and was awarded First Class Medal at the 1855 Paris Exhibition - Tardy, Dictionnaire des Horlogers.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
