The lower porcelain panel is painted with floral swag and the dial is decorated with musical motifs and roses, allegorical of love. The clock is complete with it's original gesso base. Please note that this style of clock does not have a glazed bezel or a rear door. The French movement is of very high quality as one would expect of Japy Freres. It has the Japy Freres 'Medaille d'Honneur' mark on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent with a clean and bright finish, there is some very minor wear to the original gilding and some occasional discolouration. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no damage and the vast majority of the over-glaze gilt decoration present. There are losses to the red and white applied 'jewels'. Gesso base is in good condition with wear to the high spots. The blue fabric has been replaced quite recently. This is a fine and very decorative clock to add to your collection.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
