Antique French Gilt Bronze Louis XVI Clock ~ French - Circa 1870 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A beautiful original antique French clock. It is in the Louis XVI style, elegantly decorated with acanthus and a large urn to the top. To the front is a panel with blind fret work of acanthus. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen for example in front of a mirror.

The dial is also gilt bronze with 12 individual enamel cartouches and blued steel hands. There is also a cartouche signed for the retailer.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition just some tiny nibbles to the cartouches next to the winding holes. There is a small chip to the edge of the original glass. 

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
