The dial itself is decorated with a bird and floral swags. It is lettered in white cartouches against the blue background enamel 'jewel' half-hour markers It is complete with original gilt brass hands. Above the dial is a porcelain urn with ormolu handles and a pineapple finial. To the sides are floral swags and goddess masks. Please note that this style of clock does not have a glazed bezel over the dial or a rear door. The French movement is by Japy Freres and has the makers mark on the backplate along with that of the retailer. It is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. The movement is fitted with the superior rack striking system. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with just some minor wear on the high spots and some slight disclouration. The dial is also in good condition, one 'jewel' is missing from near the 4 O'clock and some chipping around the winding holes. The over-glaze gilt decoration is very good. The porcelain is also very good, as with the dial most of the over-glaze gilt decoration is present and in good condition. This is a stunning clock in lovely original condition, ready to add to your collection.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
