Ormolu and Marble Clock Set by Samuel Marti ~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A fine and elegant original antique French Louis XVI style clock set. It is beautifully made of cream marble mounted with very good quality ormolu (finely gilded bronze) which is in excellent condition. The front has a curved and beveled glass panel to allow the ormolu sunburst pendulum to be seen gently swinging within the gilded interior of the case.

Candelabra are delicately modelled with acanthus supporting the two lights and a pineapple finial to the top. The dial is porcelain enamel with beautiful floral swags between the numbers and is complete with original finely fretted gilt hands and convex glass.

The French movement is of high quality and is by Samuel Marti. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Sunburst Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with no significant wear. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. Marble has an excellent polish and just an occasional tiny nibble to the edges. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
