The stunning dial is designed as a swag of ribbons in ormolu, set with 12 individual enamel cartouches. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. This type of design does not have a glazed bezel to the front.
The Early French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition. It is is the earlier version of the Pendule De Paris movement with a silk suspension. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent, the gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition, no damage to the cartouches. The dial centre has been polished at some time. The bronze figure has a lovely patina and has been lacquered at some time to preserve this. The marble is in excellent condition with just some tiny nibbles to the edges. A beautiful clock to add to your collection.
Bronzier mark on the movement front plate - Pailly of Rue Chapon Paris

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
