Large Antique French Bronze Clock by Samuel Marti~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A large Baroque clock of excellent quality by the famous maker Samuel Marti. It is beautifully made of bronze with hairy paw feet, an armorial bearing to the front with Lions Rampant and mythical creatures to the sides. The front has sound frets backed with red velvet that also help to lighten the design. To the top is a large and elaborate urn with mythical creatures as the handles.
The large and impressive dial is enamel on copper with a bronze centre and blued steel hands. The French movement is by Samuel Marti and has the maker's mark on the backplate. It is of excellent quality and is in superb clean and running condition having been fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent clean and bright with just some slight wear and discolouration. About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
