Stunning Antique French Gilt Brass Clock Set.

A beautiful antique French Louis XVI style clock set 'Garniture de cheminee'. It is very well modelled in gilded brass in the Louis XVI style. The case is architecturally shaped, profusely decorated with floral swags. The front of the case is fretted to allow the pendulum to be glimpsed swinging inside the case. Candelabra are conforming in style with bold 4 branch candelabra above handled urns and are complete with original snuffers. These sit in the central nozzle as finials.

The dial is enamel on copper with a cast brass centre and is complete with original blued steel hands.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It is complete with the original pendulum. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots and some discolouration in places. The candelabra are very slightly distorted and there are a couple of old repairs to the candelabra. The dial has some slight chipping around the winding holes.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
