Antique French Rococo Boudoir Clock ~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A lovely original antique French Rococo boudoir clock. Modelled in gilt brass and typically bold, asymmetric, waisted designed with laurel leaves, 'C' scrolls and floral swags. There is a large and elaborate scrolling finial to the top of the case. The dial is the sought after cream enamel on copper with black lettering and finely fretted gilt brass hands. It has a separate minute ring and has a hob nail bezel. The front of the case is fretted to allow a glimpse of the pendulum swinging within the case.
The French movement is of high quality and has the Samuel Marti mark on the backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some minor wear on the high spots. The dial is also in excellent condition with just some small nibbles around the winding holes.
