Japy Freres Antique French Rococo Clock Set

A stunning and early Rococo brass cased clock set by the famous maker Japy Freres. Beautiful waisted shape case, decorated with floral swags and trailing foliage. The top is surmounted by a boat shaped finial with a flaming torch� and the front of the case is fretted to allow the pendulum to be seen swinging. The clock stands on 'C' scroll feet. Candelabra are conforming and surmounted by 5 light candelabra. The set is of very good quality with crisp, sharp and finely detailed modelling and has a lovely clean and bright finish.

The dial is finely cast in brass and mounted with 12 individual enamel cartouches which are lettered in blue.

The Japy Freres French movement is of high quality and is a particularly early example from 1850 - 1858 with long tailed back cock and spring hammer rest. It runs for 8 days and strikes half hourly on a bell and is complete with a replacement pendulum and a bell. It has been fully overhauled by our clock maker and is in excellent working order. Condition is excellent, the case has a clean and bright finish and there are no repairs or losses. The candelabra arms are slightly distorted and two sconce inserts have been replaced. The dial is also in excellent condition, two cartouches have very very slight nibbles to the edges but are otherwise perfect.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
