Japy Freres Gilt Brass Table Clock.

A Stunning Table clock by the well known maker Japy Freres. It is beautifully made in gilded brass and features classical motifs. Fortuna, goddess of good fortune is depicted on each side carrying a horn of plenty, a Cornucopia. To the top is a cherub seated on a globe, above the dial is a lions mask and below is Fortuna again with a swag of abundance. The case is an unusual tapered shape with a leaf cornice, above which is a domed "roof". 

The dial is enamel on copper with blue lettering and is complete with the original fretted gilt brass hands.

The Japy Freres French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Japy Freres mark is on the movement backplate. Pendulum is original.  It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. The dial has some slight chipping around the Brocot shaft above the number 12 position but is otherwise perfect.
