Antique French Rococo Boudoir Clock ~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A lovely original antique French Rococo boudoir clock. Modelled in gilt brass and typically bold, waisted design with laurel leaves, 'C' scrolls and floral swags. There is a large and elaborate acanthus finial to the top of the case. The dial is the sought after cream enamel on copper with blue lettering and is complete with original blued steel hands. It has a separate minute ring and has a Rococo acanthus bezel. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen and the pendulum can just be glimpsed swinging below the case, between the scrolls of the feet.
The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some very minor wear and discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition, no chips or scratches. Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
