Louis XVI Ormolu Boudoir Table Clock ~ French - Circa 1900 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A beautiful original antique French table clock by A. D. Mougin. It is Louis XVI classical in style, modelled in ormolu (gilded brass). To the sides are two elaborate acanthus scrolls with an acanthus moulding to the base. Two blind fretted panels are beautifully formed to the front of the the case. The urn to the top of the case has two ornate handles and an acanthus finial. This is a clock of very good quality with sharp incised detail with a good finish.
The dial is enamel on copper with blue lettering and blued steel hands. The bezel is fitted with convex glass. The French movement is of high quality and is by A. D. Mougin. The clockmakers mark is on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent, clean and bright with some minor wear in places. The dial is also in excellent condition, there is a small area of restoration which is not noticeable.
