Stunning Gilt Brass Cartel Wall Clock

A large and stunning antique French cartel wall clock. It is beautifully modelled in gilt brass and is in the Baroque style. It features a grotesque mask, lions to the shoulders above the dial and a pair of winged goddesses below the dial.

The dial is enamel on copper with a cast brass centre and is complete with original large, blued steel hands.

The French movement is of very high quality and has the Vincenti et Cie clockmakers mark on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish to the original gilding and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with just a faint hairline next to the right hand winding hole and some slight nibbles around both winding holes.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employee two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
