Gilt metal clock with Sevres style pink ground porcelain panels. ~ French - Circa 1870 ~ ~~ Excellent original condition ~~ Exceptionally pretty French clock with Sevres style porcelain panels, dial, columns and vase are very nicely painted with Pompadour Rose ground. The panel is beautifully painted with a couple beside a lake with a ruin in the background. The dial and columns are painted with floral swags. The case is profusely decorated in typical French style with floral swags. The clock runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell every half-hour. Click here to hear the strike! Condition is excellent. The movement is in original clean and fully working condition. The pendulum has been replaced but is as the original would have been. The case is in very good condition - there is no damage to the porcelain. The gilding is in good condition - there is some wear but this is minor, the gilding has mellowed to a deep gold and has bubbled slightly in places. This just adds the charm of the piece which looks great as you can see in the pictures. The case is stamped for the maker "Brunfaut" - this is partly obscured by a join in the case. The retails mark JWB is stamped on the back of the movement. Click here to hear the strike!
