Beautiful Antique French Ormolu and Mahogany Boudoir Clock.

A stunning petit clock, beautifully made in ormolu (fine gilded brass) and mahogany. It was retailed by the well known American store Baily Banks and Biddle Co of Philadelphia. It is modelled as two cherubim, holding the clock aloft on their shoulders. The clock is mounted in a decorative mahogany barrel with the original ormolu pendulum swinging below. The back door is glazed with bevelled convex glass, allowing the movement to be seen. It is very well made and is in excellent original condition.

The dial is enamel on copper, delicately lettered with black hours and red minutes. It is complete with the original fretted brass hands.

The French movement is by Vincenti et Cie, it is of excellent quality. We have fully stripped cleaned and tested the movement. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and half-hours on a bell. The video clip below shows the movement running and striking.  

Condition of the ormolu is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. Mahogany is also in excellent condition with a good clean finish. Dial is excellent with no chips or scratches. 

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
