Rare Silver Plated Bronze Clock Set

A very rare and particularly chic silver plated bronze/brass clock set. It is classical in style; the clock is mounted in a drum which is supported by 4 goddesses carrying the clock on stylised waves. The top of the clock has an intricately fretted vase surrounded by scrolls. The silvered 'basket of flowers' pendulum swings beneath and can be seen from all sides. Above the dial is a beautifully depicted Reynold's angel. Candelabra stand on fretted, square bases surmounted by 2 branches, styled with elaborate scrolls. Decoration is beautifully sharp and detailed, with fine fret work to the urns and bases.

The clock and candelabra are modelled all around and the back door of the clock is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. The set displays beautifully, both on a mantle or side table or in the middle of a room.

The dial is engraved and silvered and is complete with blued steel hands.

The French movement is of excellent quality. The backplate of the movement has the original Paris retailers mark "Bocquet Fils". It is in beautifully clean and running condition having been fully stripped down, cleaned and serviced by our clockmaker. We have replaced the pendulum with a specially silvered one to match the clock and we have fitted a replacement minute hand to match the original hour. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below see this actual clock running!

Condition of the case is very good with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear to the silver plate, particularly on the high spots and some discolouration / tarnish. The dial is also in good condition. Candelabra arms are very slightly distorted as is one sconce liner.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
