Large Baroque Antique French Clock Set

A very large and impressive brass cased clock set, well modelled and finely detailed in the Baroque style. The clock case is modelled as an architectural ruin, covered in flowing foliage, goddess caryatid pillars to each side and a fountain to the front. Beneath this are a pair of seated cherubs. Candelabra have similarly designed bases with ornate 4 branch candelabra above.  

The dial is a beautiful cream enamel on copper and is complete with original blued steel hands.

The French movement is by A. D. Mougin and is of excellent quality. It has been fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker who has replaced the pendulum. It runs for 8 days on one wind and sounds the hours and half-hours on a bell. See the video clip below to see the clock running.  

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some very minor wear to the high spots. One sconce insert is slightly cracked and the candelabra arms are slightly distorted. The dial is in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. 

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
