Antique French Gilt Brass Clock Set ~

A very decorative clock set by Samuel Marti, with the original gilding in good, clean and bright condition. It is of a nice size which will easily fit on to a mantle or small side table. The clock is classical in style with a restrained architectural flavour. Columns form the front of the clock with cherubs seated to the top corners of the case, between the columns the clock is fretted with scrolling foliage allowing the pendulum to be glimpsed swinging. The candelabra have matching bases, surmounted by four arm candelabra. The beautiful dial is enamel on copper and is complete with the original blued steel hands..

Dial is large and is enamel on copper with a cast brass, blind fretted centre. It is complete with the original pieced brass hands and is covered by bevelled convex glass.

Samuel Marti movement is of the usual high quality of this maker and their mark is on the movement backplate. It runs for 8 days and strikes half hourly on a bell. It has been fully overhauled by our clock maker who has replaced the missing pendulum with an old spare. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with good original gilding which is bright and clean. There are no losses to the case or candelabra. The arms of the candelabra are very slightly distorted. The dial is also in good condition with just a couple of small chips at the winding holes.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
