Stunning Louis XVI Cartel Clock

A lovely decorative Cartel wall clock. It is in the style of Louis XVI and is beautifully modelled in gilded brass. it is modelled as an acanthus wreath in which the dial is placed with a bow above. The top of the case has a handled urn with a floral finial. A bunch of acanthus leaves hang down from the base of the clock.

The dial is a beautiful convex, cream enamel dial with blue lettering and is complete with the original blued steel hands and convex glass.

The movement is by A. D. Mougin and has the clockmakers mark on the backplate. It is of excellent quality as you would expect from this maker and is in excellent condition having been completely overhauled by our clock maker - click the video clip below to hear the bell strike and see the clock running. It runs for 8 days and strikes half hourly on a bell and is complete with an a new pendulum.

Condition of the case is excellent with a bright and clean finish, some very minor wear to the original gilding and some very minor tarnish / discolouration in places. Dial is also in excellent condition with just some very faint hair lining. This is a stunning clock ready to grace your home, lots of pictures below.
