The porcelain is by St Denis of Paris, one vases has the impressed mark to the base along with an impressed style number and the artists initials. Unusually, many of the components of the case have the "A B" mark. The dial is silvered bronze mounted with a porcelain centre with original blued steel hands. The French movement is by Achilles Brocot. It is of excellent quality and is the large plate version of the Pendule de Paris movement with rack striking and pin-pallet escapement. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with just some slight wear, discolouration and surface marks. The dial is also in excellent condition. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no damage. There is what looks like a very small factory fault on the bottom of one urn. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
