Japy Freres Classical Cartel Wall Clock~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A stunning original French antique cartel wall clock by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is classical in design with an armorial theme, flowing acanthus, a shield and surmounted by a pair of dragons. It is finely modelled in gilt brass. The dial has a gilt brass centre and an enamel ring with red half-hour markers and the original blued steel hands. The pendulum can be glimpsed swinging behind the case. This is a lovely wall clock of a good size.
The French movement is by Japy Freres and is of high quality. The makers 'Medaille D'Honneur' mark is on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration, just an occasional light scratch. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage.
Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
